Homework Tips

  • Your child’s homework should only take 10 minutes at the most.  If it is taking longer, stop!  Just put a note on the paper for me to know they had a struggle.

  • Please send back the finished homework everyday.  It’s easier to go over where they had a problem the night before the next morning while it’s still fresh.

  • Have a special place set up for them to do their homework.  Also set a specific time for them to their work.  This will set up a pattern for when they get older.

  • The book reading can be done at the same time as the written or saved to do just before bedtime.  Ask them to show you a word on the page so that you know they are learning to recognize their sight words, not just reciting the story from memory.

  • Please note when they are writing that they are starting at the top when forming letters and numbers and that they go to the left when making any circle letters.  The more they write the easier it will be and the faster they become.

  • Return homework bag on Thursdays

  • Return weekly homework books on Fridays to be placed in your child's cubby book box.
